That end of the Rose Garden is quickly becoming overloaded with yellow: Chicago Peace, Peace, Yellow Brick Road and now Summer Surprise. But they all have complimentary coloring, so it should be all good.
From the You May Have Spoken Too Soon category, February was a record breaking month for snowfall. We broke the record set in 1908 of 35.5 inches. 35.7 inches of snow! In February! This is a picture I posted at the end of January. It was taken January 22.
Here is almost the same shot 11 days later, February 2.
And cold! The average temperature was about 15 degrees. Blah! But enough about February, it's time to move on, or March on, if you will. Yes, there's still snow on the ground, but with temperatures projected to hit the 50 degree mark this week, it won't be long until we will be able to see the grass. At that temp, I'll be able to start walking outside again, (Hopefully!)
By the way, you remember this little guy from December?
Well, this has to be the hardiest viola I have ever seen. This picture was taken today. I can't believe there is any green left.
I doubt if it would have looked this good if I had overwintered it inside! I wish I could get more plants to do this. My plant budget would be a lot smaller! No, probably not.
Only 12 more days until Spring....12 weeks until the garden goes in. Awesome!!!!!!!!
